Teaching your bot — knowledge, your website and your store

A bot is only as good as what it knows. There are four ways to teach it, and they stack.

1. Paste or upload

Paste text straight in, or upload PDF, TXT, Markdown or CSV files up to 10 MB. Documents are split into chunks and the most relevant pieces are retrieved for each answer — so the bot quotes your policies rather than inventing them.

2. Crawl your website

Give it your URL and Tendabot discovers your pages, shows you the list, and you pick which to include. Each page becomes knowledge the bot can cite, with a clickable link back to the source in its reply. Re-sync any time to pick up changes.

3. Help Center articles

Write articles in the console. They do double duty: published as a public help centre for SEO and taught to the bot, so the same answer serves both readers and chat.

4. Connect your store (Pro and Scale)

Connect Shopify or WooCommerce and the bot can look up real orders and search your live catalogue.

• Order lookup — status, tracking, delivery, straight from your store
• Product search — recommendations from real products and prices, never invented ones

A note on order privacy

An order number alone is never enough. The visitor must also confirm one of: the email used at checkout, the phone number on the order, or the delivery postcode. That prevents anyone walking order numbers to read other people's details — a guarantee we put in writing to Shopify to get approved for order access.

Accuracy

Bots run with always-on guardrails: answer only from your knowledge, admit uncertainty, and offer a person rather than invent a price, a policy, or an address. Grounded facts beat guesswork — which is exactly why what you teach it matters more than how you word the prompt.
